On 5 May 2026, in Puerto Bolivar (Machala, El Oro), two individuals on a motorcycle detonated an explosive device outside a house on Junin and Quinta Norte streets, near the alley known as Los Sandros. The attackers, with their faces covered, got off the vehicle, placed the explosive in front of the property, fled on the motorcycle, and the device detonated minutes later. The attack caused material damage to the house but did not injure anyone. Authorship and motivations are unknown. There were no casualties.
