In the city of Okhtyrka in Sumy Oblast, a man detonated a grenade during negotiations with law enforcement officers, injuring himself, three police officers, and another man.

Details : Police received a report of a man with a grenade on a street in the city of Okhtyrka. Patrol police response officers, a police precinct officer, and a UPR officer arrived at the scene.

Verbatim : "During negotiations with law enforcement officers, the man detonated a grenade. The explosion injured the man himself, three police officers, and one civilian.

All the injured have been hospitalized. A police investigative and operational group is working at the scene."

Updated : Later, the police clarified that the incident occurred at around 5:30 p.m. in one of the restaurants in Okhtyrka. The police received a report of a man in the cafe with a grenade and threatening visitors. The offender turned out to be a 41-year-old former serviceman.

Police investigators, under the procedural guidance of the prosecutor's office, initiated criminal proceedings under: Art. 348 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (assault on the life of a law enforcement officer); Part 2 of Art. 15, paragraphs 1, 5, 7 Part 2 of Art. 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (attempted murder); Part 4 of Art. 296 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (hooliganism); Part 1 of Art. 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (illegal handling of ammunition).

The suspect was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. The issue of reporting him to the police is being resolved.
