Troops Clear Terrorist Hideouts in Zamfara, Recover Ammunition

Troops of the 8 Division, Operation FANSAN YANMA , have conducted a series of coordinated offensive operations across parts of Zamfara State, clearing suspected terrorist hideouts and recovering ammunition.

Security sources said the operation, carried out at about 0700 hours on May 8, 2026, covered Fakai, Katsira and Maberaya villages in Shinkafi Local Government Area, as well as Kalage, Dangwandi and Anawa communities in Isa Local Government Area.

During the clearance mission, troops made contact with suspected terrorists at Katsira village and engaged them in a firefight, forcing the armed men to flee into surrounding bushes.

Following the encounter, the troops exploited the general area and recovered three rounds of 7.62 x 39mm ammunition and six rounds of 7.62 x 51mm NATO ammunition.

According to the sources, the operation was part of ongoing efforts to deny criminal elements freedom of action and restore normalcy across affected communities in the state.

The troops have continued dominance patrols and clearance operations across identified flashpoints in the general area.
