On May 6, an active cadre of United Liberation Front of Asom-Independent (ULFA-I) identified as Biren Chetia alias Rontu Asom was arrested along with arms and ammunition at Palengi under Demow Police station in Sivasagar District of Assam, reports Northeast Now. Eight hand grenades, one bottle grenade, one 9 mm pistol, 10 live round bullets and indiscriminate documents were recovered from his possession. Sources stated that he was a Myanmar-trained hardcore ULFA-I militant.
