On May 5, Police arrested three persons, including one injured in an exchange of fire, after a shooting incident near Verka bus stand in Amritsar District, Punjab, reports The Tribune. A team raided the residence of the accused following complaints that eight to nine persons from two vehicles fired at civilians. During the raid, suspects opened fire on the police. In the ensuing chase, the accused Krishna Sonar was injured in both legs and apprehended. Police later arrested Ranjit Singh alias Bobby and Gautam Mehra. A .32 bore pistol was recovered based on disclosure by Ranjit Singh. Further investigation is underway to arrest the remaining accused.
