4th May 2026
On May 4, an individual, identified as bookie alias Sam, was fatally shot in a targeted execution in the lobby of a busy office building at 13049 76th Avenue in the Newton neighbourhood in Surrey, Canada, reports The Times of India. Surrey police responded to gunfire and declared him dead at the scene despite medical efforts. The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has taken over the case, describing it as a gang-related hit. Sources said pro-Khalistani shooters with Indian links are under investigation. Shortly after the killing, a Facebook post in the name of fugitive gangster Rohit Godara claimed responsibility. Godara called the victim a “close associate” and “main handler” of his rivals, involved in cricket match-fixing and illegal betting in Canada. The post warned that “the list is ready” and anyone assisting enemies would be next. Police are yet to confirm the authenticity of the post or the victim’s identity.
