UAV event in Sumy area, Ukraine on Wed 6th May 2026

On the morning of May 6, the Russian army struck a civilian building in the central part of Sumy with two UAVs .

This was reported by the OVA. The rescue operation is ongoing. Information about the victims and other consequences is being clarified. The kindergarten building was hit, said Acting Mayor Artem Kobzar.

A human body was found under the rubble in Sumy, Stanislav Polyakov confirmed to Suspilny. The deceased woman is a security guard at a preschool. The children did not attend the institution, wrote the head of the OVA Oleg Grigorov. The deceased woman in Sumy was 48 years old, the prosecutor's office said .

UPD: 5 injured in Sumy. One woman is in hospital, her condition is moderate. Two more women and two men received medical care in hospital and are receiving outpatient treatment - MVA .

A fire broke out at the scene of the attacks, and at least two people were injured, Suspilny correspondents report.

Russian military personnel hit the kindergarten with two “shaheeds,” Deputy Mayor Stanislav Polyakov told the Public: “There were people under the rubble, the State Emergency Service workers were pulling people out.” The kindergarten building suffered the most damage, with minor damage to neighboring buildings.

According to the head of the MVA, Serhiy Kryvosheyenko, the Russian Federation struck with two strikes a UAV of the "Geran-2" type. The two injured kindergarten workers in Sumy are 52 and 53 years old. One of the injured is in hospital, in moderate condition. The other was examined and provided with medical care in a hospital.

Previously, Suspilny was informed that one woman was in the hospital due to the Russian attack on a kindergarten in Sumy, and two others were provided with assistance on the spot.

Explosions were heard in Sumy around 10:30 a.m. The Air Force reported a group of UAVs heading towards the city.
