The Mexican Army and the National Guard dealt a blow to a criminal cell in the municipality of Valle del Rosario, Chihuahua, dismantling the operations of an armed group after a raid near the town of San Nicolás del Cañón. This Monday, April 20, federal forces intercepted the suspects during patrols in an area historically contested by factions of the Sinaloa Cartel seeking control of routes to the Sierra Tarahumara. Eight individuals were arrested at the scene, including a minor who was already part of the organization's operational ranks. An official source, speaking on condition of anonymity, confirmed that those arrested belong to a cell responsible for generating violence that had recently increased its intimidation activities in the border region with Hidalgo del Parral. During the operation, the military personnel neutralized any attempt at resistance, as they were outnumbered and outgunned. The arsenal seized in San Nicolás del Cañón reveals the high firepower of these groups: - 11 long guns - 43 magazines - 4,203 rounds of ammunition - 1 armored vehicle - Tactical equipment. This operation takes place amidst a context of high tension in southern Chihuahua, where the use of armored vehicles has become commonplace among mid-level leaders of organized crime to withstand confrontations. The detainees and the weapons were transferred under heavy security to be turned over to the appropriate authorities.
