An armed convoy was killed after attempting to forcibly break through a community blockade in the Llanos region of Chiapas. The toll: more than five dead and several seriously wounded after two consecutive clashes between armed civilians. The first confrontation occurred on the outskirts of Nicolás Ruiz, where the group—which reportedly came from the community of Nuevo León, in Teopisca—encountered armed farmers. At least one person was killed and two others were seriously wounded. Far from retreating, the attackers continued their route toward Venustiano Carranza. In the community of Guadalupe Victoria, they encountered the blockade of the so-called Casa del Pueblo (House of the People), which has maintained access to the municipality for months due to internal conflicts and territorial control. They tried to pass. They couldn't. There, the second shootout erupted. The armed group was killed at the scene. Reports indicate that at least two community members also died in the clash. The area is no stranger to violence. Venustiano Carranza is plagued by agrarian disputes, the presence of armed civilian groups, and a community structure that has operated outside of state control. This pattern—roadblocks defended with weapons—has been repeated in recent years. Following the events, forces from all three levels of government deployed an operation in the region. So far, there is no official statement clarifying who the aggressors were or which group they operated under.
