Direct attack in Mocorito: gunmen open fire on soldiers and are repelled in Santiago de Comanito. The pursuit extended through dirt roads and brush, while helicopters from the Ninth Military Zone tracked moving vehicles. Our team was able to confirm shell casings scattered on the dirt road and escape tracks in the undergrowth, where the attackers managed to disappear after abandoning armored vehicles. In the area, controlled by cells of the Sinaloa Cartel that fight for mountain routes for trafficking and surveillance, this is not the first time that armed convoys have challenged federal forces. The pattern is repeated: quick attacks, retreat to rural areas, and abandonment of heavy equipment. At the scene, authorities recovered a .50 caliber Barrett rifle, M249S and M1919 machine guns, an AK-47, a 9mm handgun, magazines and ammunition of various calibers, as well as a factory-armored Cadillac Escalade and a GMC Sierra with improvised armor and a reported theft. All indications point to a cell with above-average firepower operating in a region where the military presence has been increasing without curbing these clashes. The Attorney General's Office has taken control of the case while the search for those responsible continues.
