A manhunt in the mountains of Culiacán ended with the arrest of a civilian and the seizure of a cache of weapons, including a .50 caliber Barrett rifle and an FN Minimi machine gun, following a combined land and air operation in the Sanalona district. The pursuit began when military and state police located several vehicles moving between Carboneras, El Espinal, Palo Verde, and Los Frailes. The chase extended through dirt roads and trails until, with Air Force support, they managed to cut off the vehicles. Upon arriving at the location, amidst dust and vehicles blocking dirt roads, the officers found 11 rifles, 4 handguns, three grenade launchers, high-powered magazines, and nearly 400 rounds of ammunition, as well as five tactical vests and five vehicles, two of which had been reported stolen and one of which was burning after being abandoned. The seizure of a Barrett .50 caliber rifle—a weapon capable of penetrating armor—confirms the level of firepower operating in this rural area, historically plagued by organized crime cells vying for control of routes in the Sinaloa mountains. The detainee and all the seized material were turned over to the Attorney General's Office, which must now determine which group this armed convoy belonged to and what its objective was in the region.
