Municipal police officer arrested in Cajeme for alleged possession of a firearm, drugs, and tactical equipment; the arrest took place south of Ciudad Obregón following an operation by the National Guard. The active-duty officer was intercepted while driving a yellow Ford Ranger pickup truck and was off-duty, according to local authorities. Mayor Javier Lamarque confirmed the arrest and emphasized that the officer, identified as Norberto, alias “El Oaxaco,” was taken into custody after the operation carried out by federal and state forces. A firearm, loaded magazines, a tactical vest, and a substance resembling drugs were allegedly found in his possession. This case adds to the constant tension in Cajeme, a municipality in southern Sonora marked by disputes between criminal groups and high levels of violence in various urban areas. Although the municipal government has reiterated internal controls, this type of arrest exposes the infiltration of active officers into criminal activities. Sources close to the incident indicated that the deployment occurred quickly and without confrontations, allowing for the officer's immediate arrest. The case was turned over to the Sonora State Attorney General's Office, where the legal status of the detainee will be determined, while investigations continue to determine if there are more people involved inside or outside the corporation.
