The Borno State police command has recovered and safely detonated an improvised explosive device (IED) in the Moduganari area of Maiduguri.
The command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Nahum Kenneth Daso, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday in Maiduguri.
He said the device was discovered at about 9:00 a.m. during a routine surveillance and foot patrol at Layin Logo, Moduganari.
Mr Daso said a suspicious bag found at the location prompted the immediate deployment of the Police Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Unit.
He stated, “On arrival, the EOD team identified an improvised explosive device concealed in the bag and safely detonated it in line with standard operating procedures.”
The police spokesman advised residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious persons or objects to the nearest police station or through designated emergency lines.
He added that investigations were ongoing, assuring that further details would be communicated as they unfold.
