A real estate businessman and his 11-year-old daughter were the target of a targeted attack on the morning of Thursday, April 30, in the Chapultepec neighborhood of Tijuana. Gunmen intercepted the victims at the intersection of Cumpas Avenue and Del Parral Street, opening fire on the vehicle they were traveling in. The businessman's bodyguard returned fire, using a non-lethal weapon to confront the attackers, causing them to flee immediately. The vehicle used by the assailants, a white Honda CR-V, was abandoned a few blocks from the scene and located hours later on a dead-end street off Jerez Street, as we were able to determine in the area following the deployment of security forces. This part of the city has been the scene of constant turf wars between cells operating under the orders of the Sinaloa Cartel and the Jalisco New Generation Cartel, increasing the risk for business figures in the region. Despite the operation launched by various law enforcement agencies after the vehicle was found, no arrests have been reported so far in connection with this incident. The location where the vehicle was abandoned remains under police guard while the corresponding forensic investigations are carried out to identify those responsible for this attack, which endangered the life of a minor.
