An elderly man was shot and killed inside his home in Coyoacán. He was shot in the head and left dead inside the house, while neighbors heard the gunshots that shattered the calm in the Narciso Mendoza neighborhood. The attack was targeted. It occurred on Andador 70, where armed men broke in after finding the door open. “Residents of the area told us” that it all happened in seconds: sharp bursts of gunfire, screams, and then total silence. When police from the Secretariat of Citizen Security arrived, the man, around 80 years old, showed no vital signs. Witnesses say that moments before, two young women who were with the victim left the house and left the entrance unlocked. Minutes later, the assailants entered and carried out the attack without resistance. The perpetrators tried to flee, but were arrested shortly afterward, according to preliminary reports. The Coyoacán area, traditionally considered quieter than other parts of the capital, has seen isolated incidents of violence targeting homes, suggesting targeted attacks rather than random acts. This case reinforces that pattern. The Mexico City Attorney General's Office is already investigating the motive for the crime. The elderly man's wife was arrested as part of the investigation, while authorities are searching for the two women who were with the victim before the attack. The home remains under forensic guard.
