On 29 April 2026, the Malian army and Africa Corps conducted four airstrikes using an SU-24 fighter jet targeting positions held by the FLA and JNIM in Kidal (Kidal, Kidal, Kidal). The Malian army claimed these airstrikes targeted a military camp and the governorate in the town, which were under FLA and JNIM control since the Malian army's withdrawal. The Malian army stated that it neutralized (meaning killed) several militants and destroyed various assets, including weapons caches, logistics item that featured a fuel truck, a vehicle mounted with a machine gun, and an armored vehicle.
