On 28 April 2026, during a military operation (Op. Kiaarima), a Burkinabe army convoy struck three IEDs planted by an armed group (likely JNIM, based on location) along the road between Kantchari and the Nigerien border, in the village of Kampyagui (Kantchari, Tapoa, Est). 1 soldier was killed, and five others sustained injuries.
