IED event in Colombia on Sat 25th April 2026

On 25 April 2026, in El Tunel sector (Cajibio, Cauca), members of the Jaime Martinez and Dagoberto Ramos FARC dissident fronts detonated a high-powered explosive device planted on the Panamericana Highway. The explosion struck people traveling in different vehicles along the Cali - Popayan road, killing 21 civilians, including a social leader. At least 38 people were injured and 15 vehicles, as well as the road were damaged. Witnesses stated that, shortly before the attack, FARC dissidents blocked the same road with a bus and a dump truck and spray-painted messages related to the group. Days later, the EMC claimed responsibility for the attack and said it was a tactical error during a propaganda action, stating that the group had no intention of harming civilians. 21 fatalities.
