Troops Recover 200 Rustled Cattle in Kaduna, Hand Over to Community
By Zagazola Makama
Troops of the Nigerian Army have recovered 200 rustled cattle following an ambush operation in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
Security sources said the operation was carried out at about 5:30 a.m. on May 3 by troops of 312 Artillery Regiment deployed at Forward Operating Base Kankomi.
The sources disclosed that the troops acted on credible intelligence regarding the movement of suspected terrorists herding rustled cattle along a withdrawal route.
According to the sources, the troops laid an ambush at Marmara Damishi village, where they made contact with the suspects and engaged them in a firefight.
They added that the suspects abandoned the cattle and fled into the surrounding bush following the engagement.
The sources further said that the recovered 200 cows were subsequently handed over to the Sarkin Damishi for safekeeping and further necessary action.
They noted that patrols have been intensified in the area to prevent further incidents of cattle rustling.
