The Karen National Union (KNU) has issued a statement confirming that two civilians were killed following an airstrike by Military Council troops on Maw Taung town in the Tanintharyi Region.

On April 27, Military Council troops used jet fighters to drop more than 12 300-pound bombs on Mae War (The Pyu) village and residential wards within Maw Taung town.

In addition to the two civilian deaths caused by the airstrike, several housing barracks belonging to workers at the Pyi Phyo Tun Company oil palm plantation project were damaged.
