Undefined Explosive Device (UED) event in Södertälje area, Sweden on Sun 3rd May 2026

An explosion occurred near a hotel in central Södertälje late Sunday evening.

– There is no information about any injuries, says police spokesperson Ola Österling.

The alarm was received around 11:30 p.m.

– We have received several calls about an explosion in Södertälje. According to the alarms, it has vibrated in people's windows, says Ola Österling at the Stockholm Police.

A window was shattered and a facade was damaged as a result of the explosion. The incident is being investigated as a public nuisance.

No one is injured.

Bomb squad called

The police have called in bomb disposal experts who began their investigation of the crime scene during the night. The area was cordoned off, but the police left the crime scene in the morning.

– We remain in the area for security purposes, says police spokesperson Susanna Rinaldo.

At the same time, a hunt is underway for the perpetrator. Footage from surveillance cameras is being obtained during the night and will be analyzed.

The police have not said what exploded, but deny that it was pyrotechnics.

– There have also been reports that fireworks were set off at the same time, but we have been able to establish that this is not a firework injury, Österling tells TT.

According to information provided to SVT, last night's explosion may be linked to the same conflict that is behind the recent explosions in Geneta .
