On April 20, Police arrested four persons and recovered 9.925 kilograms of heroin, two foreign-made pistols, eight magazines and 40 live cartridges, linked to a narcotics and illegal arms module in Hoshiarpur District of Punjab, reports The Tribune. Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav stated that preliminary investigation revealed the accused were acting as local handlers of foreign-based gangsters involved in drug trafficking and supply of illegal weapons. A First Information Report (FIR) has been registered at Garhshankar Police Station in Hoshiarpur. Further investigation is underway to establish forward and backward linkages and dismantle the entire network, the DGP added.
