17th April 2026
On April 17, Security Forces (SFs) recovered and destroyed a large quantity of explosive materials concealed by Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) cadres in the dense forests of Annapur under Annapur Police Station limits at Farsegad in Bijapur District of Chhattisgarh, reports Ommcom News. Acting on specific intelligence during an area domination and de-mining exercise, a joint team of the District Reserve Guard (DRG) and the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) discovered the hidden dump while conducting operations towards the PillurAnnaram area. The explosives were concealed inside a white plastic water tank buried underground, a method frequently used by Maoists to store materials for Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs). The recovered materials included 50 kilograms of Sulphur, approximately 100 kilograms of urea packed in two sacks, and 10 kilograms of gunpowder, all commonly used in the fabrication of IEDs. Following standard safety protocols, SFs destroyed the entire cache at the site. No casualties or injuries were reported.
