UAV event in Crimea, Ukraine on Tue 28th April 2026
28th April 2026
FP-1/FP-2 drones struck a Russian Iskander base in Crimea during the night of April 28, targeting hardened bunker-type structures. Visible damage suggests the drones lacked sufficient penetration power to breach heavily fortified targets. This highlights a broader limitation of all slower kamikaze UAVs: relatively low speed and limited kinetic energy make them less effective against reinforced structures and deeply protected infrastructure. For maximum effectiveness against such targets, combined drone–missile strikes are required. Which is rarely possible to implement so far, given the shortage of long-range strike missiles in the Ukrainian arsenal.
