On 21 April 2026, a loud explosion occurred in the Masood Road area of Mazar-e-Sharif city, Balkh. Residents stated the blast was heard across several parts of the city. The nature of the explosion and casualties are unknown. However, Afghanistan Green Trend, led by former Afghan Vice-President Amrullah Saleh, took responsibility and claimed that they carried out an operation against a Taliban city patrol.
