On 18 April 2026, as per FARDC, M23 carried out drone strikes on FARDC positions and residential areas in the villages of Mikenge (Mwenga, Sud-Kivu), Kakenge and Point Zero. At least, 4 civilians were killed and 8 others were injured, mainly women and children. 4 fatalities split into 3 locations, coded as 2 for this event. These strikes occurred less than 24 hours after the signing of the memorandum between the DRC and the M23 during the talks in Montreux, Switzerland (coded separately). M23 claimed that it was FARDC that bombarded Mikenge.
