At 10:00 PM last night, April 23 (Thursday), the military and militia joint forces stationed at Nagaryone Pagoda Hill in Namma Phit Village fired 60mm heavy artillery indiscriminately. The artillery shell landed and exploded on a building housing displaced persons within the Namma Phit Catholic Church compound.

As a result of the explosion, 13-year-old Maung Sut Jat Awng, the son of U Dum Dawng La Taung and Daw Marip Ma Khaing, was killed instantly by shrapnel while he was reading inside the house.
