Local sources report that a child around the age of 10 was killed and a woman was injured by a heavy artillery shell fired by the military junta, which landed in the Nam Maphyit IDP (Internally Displaced Persons) camp in Hpakant Township, Kachin State.

A resident told Mizzima that the shell, fired from the Hpakant Tactical Command Hill (Tatma Kone) at 10:05 PM yesterday (April 23), exploded within the IDP camp located at the Roman Catholic church.
