SAA event in North Kivu, Beni area, Congo, the Democratic Republic of the on Thu 23rd April 2026

A civilian was shot dead this Wednesday, April 22, in the Sayo neighborhood, in the Mulekera commune, in the city of Beni, the provisional capital of North Kivu.

This was learned by Actu30.cd from the local civil society. According to this organization, an FARDC soldier, angry and demanding the payment of three months' salary, opened fire, mortally wounding a farmer in the Toda/Masongo area.

The victim, identified as Bisero, was returning from the field at the time of the tragedy. This information was also confirmed by the head of the Sayo neighborhood.

According to Muhindo Nzanzu Flavien, head of the Sayo neighborhood, the civilian died on the spot after being hit by a bullet. The exact circumstances of the incident as well as the fate of the soldier involved have not yet been communicated by the military authorities.
