On April 12, United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) reported that at least 11 people were killed and 11 others wounded in a gun attack on a Shia gathering near a shrine in the Deh Miri area in Injil and Zinda Jan Districts of Herat Province on April 10, with women and children among the victims, reports The Khaama Press News Agency. Georgette Gagnon, UNAMA Deputy Special Representative (Political), expressed condolences to victims’ families, called the incident a “horrific crime,” and wished the injured a swift recovery.
