On April 10, a Border Security Force (BSF) Constable identified as Mithun Mandal, was killed after being struck by a stray bullet during an exchange of fire between suspected Kuki-Zo and Tangkhul Naga village volunteers in Ukhrul District of Manipur, reports India TodayNE. The incident occurred at Mongkot Chepu village under Litan Police Station when armed volunteers from Mongkot Chepu and Shikibung villages engaged in gunfire. Mandal, of BSF’s 170 Battalion, was deployed for road opening patrol duty and sustained a critical shoulder injury. He was evacuated to the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) in Imphal, where he succumbed.
