SAA event in Mexico on Thu 23rd April 2026
23rd April 2026
Three men were shot and killed at a ranch in the community of Las Higueras, in Jilotlán de los Dolores, Jalisco. The targeted attack was reported by neighbors who heard gunfire and alerted 911. When municipal police entered the property, they confirmed that there was nothing they could do. Upon arriving at the scene, this news outlet observed shell casings scattered on loose soil and a pickup truck parked next to a rural storage building. Paramedics could only confirm the deaths. The ranch owner was among the victims; the initial line of investigation points to a robbery that ended in homicide. Jilotlán de los Dolores is not just any place: it is a mountainous region marked by criminal disputes between groups operating on the border of Jalisco and Michoacán. These types of attacks on isolated ranches follow a pattern: armed incursions, swift violence, and retreat without arrests. The State Attorney General's Office has taken control of the scene and is collecting evidence. So far there are no arrests or confirmed identities, while the region adds another episode of violence in territories where the presence of the State remains intermittent.
