Grenade event in Dnipropetrovsk, Mykolaivka area, Ukraine on Tue 21st April 2026

On Tuesday morning, in the village of Mykolaivka, Synelnyk district, Dnipropetrovsk region, a drunk resident threw two grenades at police officers during an arrest, injuring five law enforcement officers. The offender was detained.

Verbatim : "On April 21 at 6:30 a.m., the police received an anonymous report about the inappropriate behavior of a man in the village of Mykolaivka, Synelnyky district. It was reported that the local resident was in a state of severe alcohol intoxication and claimed to have two grenades."

Details : It is reported that police officers from the Synelnyky District Police Department immediately arrived at the scene and began negotiations with the man. During the conversation, he reported that he had turned on the gas supply in the room, which created a real threat of explosion and the lives of people in neighboring houses.

According to law enforcement officials, in order to prevent further escalation and eliminate the threat to the civilian population, police officers began making arrests.

In response, the man threw two explosive devices at the police officers, one of which did not go off, the other exploded.

Five police officers were injured in the explosion. All of them received shrapnel wounds of varying severity and were hospitalized, receiving necessary medical care. Despite the injuries, the police detained a local resident born in 1991.

During an inspection of the explosion site, grenade fragments and their fuse were recovered.

An investigative and operational group, explosives technicians, and other specialized services are currently working at the scene. All circumstances of the incident are being established and the issue of legal qualification is being resolved.
