IDF Weapons Theft Case: Two Suspects Arrested, Drugs, Tavor Rifle, Grenades, and Ammunition Seized In a joint operation by the Lachish Military Police, Ashkelon Police Station, members of the Sahar Brigade, and the Central Special Investigations Unit of the investigating military police, a case was uncovered involving the theft of weapons from the IDF by an active-duty soldier, which were allegedly transferred to a civilian who sold them to criminal elements. As the investigation progressed to the open phase, the forces located the suspect, a resident of Be'er Ganim, while he was in his vehicle. The suspect was detained and taken to his home for a search, during which materials suspected of being drugs and an IDF Tavor rifle, which had been converted to gas firing, were seized. Following the operation, the suspect soldier was located at his home, in Moshav Noga, and various types of drugs were seized from his possession, as well as seven IDF smoke grenades, an IDF vest, bullets and cartridges. The two suspects were arrested and transferred for further investigation, the civilian was transferred for investigation at the Lachish Military Police Headquarters, and the soldier was transferred for further investigation at the Central Unit for Special Investigations in the Military Police.
