A police patrol was shot at while they were in a stairwell in Husby in northwest Stockholm.
A police patrol was in a stairwell in Husby on Tuesday at around 12:30 p.m. when a man in an apartment shot at them with a gun-like object. No one on the patrol was reported to have sustained any gunshot wounds.
One or more of the police officers fired back and the man was arrested, also without any gunshot wounds.
Unclear weapon
The police seized a weapon-like object.
– It has been seized, but is lying where it fell. Now the crime scene investigators will take over, says Daniel Wikdahl, press spokesman for the Stockholm Police.
It is currently unclear whether the weapon-like object is sharp or not.
– The crime is classified as either attempted murder or gross unlawful threat, it depends on whether it is a real weapon or not, says Daniel Wikdahl.
There will also be an investigation into the use of service weapons, that is, whether the police fired shots.
– But it's not us who do it, but special investigations.
Daniel Wikdahl did not know exactly why the police patrol was in the stairwell and whether their case had anything to do with the arrested man.
Just an hour after the incident, everything was calm at the scene, but the school next door had accommodated its students.
