IED event in Colombia on Wed 8th April 2026

During military operations in #Nariño, troops from the 23rd Combat Engineer Battalion of the #23rdBrigade located and destroyed two improvised explosive devices (IEDs) in a controlled detonation in the Buenavista Bajo village, on the road connecting San José de Albán with the El Empate district. During the operation, the EOD team also neutralized detonating cord and an electric detonator, preventing risks to the civilian population and ensuring security along this strategic road corridor. In a subsequent action in the rural area of ​​El Peñol, soldiers from the 9th Light Infantry Battalion neutralized two additional explosive devices, disrupting the criminal intentions of illegal armed groups. These actions represent a violation of human rights and international humanitarian law, endangering the civilian population.
