CBRN event in United States of America on Thu 16th April 2026
16th April 2026
A fire broke out aboard the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN-69) earlier this week at Norfolk Naval Shipyard, injuring 3 sailors. The nuclear-powered carrier has been in planned maintenance since January 8th, 2025, with repairs expected to stretch past 15 months. A fire during a maintenance window is the worst time for one. Every delay pushes back the carrier's return to fleet rotation, and the U.S. Navy can't afford gaps in carrier availability right now. Source: U.S. Navy
