Hpakant local news sources told Yangon Khit Thit News Agency that intense fighting has broken out in Hpakant Township, Kachin State, due to a military offensive, and two civilians, including a 4-year-old child, were killed by military fire.

At 4:00 AM on April 19, the military launched an offensive toward the Lone Khin area of Hpakant Township. During the advance, the military fired heavy artillery that landed in Ma Lan Village, Lone Khin Village Tract, striking and killing a 4-year-old child. Additionally, a Kachin man was killed by heavy artillery fire from the military last night. Fighting remains intense as of now.
