HOPEWELL, Va. (WRIC) — A chemical manufacturing facility in Hopewell has agreed to a roughly $2 million settlement over repeated air pollution violations between 2021 and 2023, according to a consent order between the company and the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ). As first reported by the Richmond Times-Dispatch, the DEQ alleges that AdvanSix Resins & Chemicals LLC, located at 905 E. Randolph Road in Hopewell, violated the Virginia Air Pollution Control Law and its air permits. The agency argues that the facility failed to comply with emissions and operational requirements identified through inspections, self-reports and multiple notices of violation, per the signed consent order. Specifically, the consent order states that the violations involved emissions issues, equipment failures and reporting requirements.
