On 5 April 2026, around 4:48pm Abu Dhabi time, UAE forces intercepted an unspecified number of missiles launched by IRGC forces over Khor Fakkan Port (Khor Fakkan, Ash Shariqah). As a result of the interception, shrapnel fell on the Qingdao Star container ship (IMO: 9318163), causing serious injuries to 1 Nepalese national, and minor-to-moderate injuries to 3 Pakistani nationals. The incident also caused a fire and damage to the port. The IRGC claimed the attack, stating that a Qader naval cruise missile struck the ship in a precise hit, setting it ablaze.
