On 4 April 2026, in Hpa Lan Kaing village (Pauk township, Pakokku district, Magway region), the Myanmar military conducted an airstrike with 5 jet fighters and dropped 11 bombs on a checkpoint of the People's Defense Force (PDF) at the Hpa Lan Kaing oil field, located on the border of Pauk township and Myaing township. During the airstrike, the security gate, buildings, and the houses were destroyed. BBC News reported that at least 6 PDF members were killed. Myanmar Pressphoto Agency reported that at least 4 PDF members were killed. Democratic Voice of Burma reported that 6 PDF members were killed and at least 10 others were injured. Shwe Phee Myay News Agency reported that 6 PDF members were killed, including 4 who died instantly at the scene. Mizzima reported that 6 PDF members were killed, including a PDF member who was seriously injured and died later. Fatalities coded as 4, using the lowest estimates. 4 fatalities.
