On 8 April 2026, in Sittwe township (Sittwe district, Rakhine state), an unknown armed group fired a heavy weapon and it exploded near the fence between Sittwe Prison and the University of Computer Studies, close to a Christian church around 1:00 pm. Another heavy weapons' fragments also fell into fields near the entrance of Thandawli village. It was unknown which group fired the heavy weapons. There were no casualties.
