On 4 April 2026, unidentified forces (likely linked to Iranian-backed groups due to ongoing hostilities between the United States, Israel, and Iran) conducted drone strikes targeting an unspecified U.S. base in Erbil City (Erbil). Around 6 pm, air defense forces (likely U.S. forces) intercepted 2 drones over Erbil City. Over the night of 4-5 April, 2 more drones targeted the U.S. Consulate in Erbil City, targeting members of the U.S. diplomatic mission. Casualties unknown.
