On 7 April 2026, projectiles launched by an unidentified armed group (likely linked to Iranian-backed groups due to ongoing hostilities between the United States, Israel, and Iran) struck residential areas of Baghdad - Karkh city (Baghdad), setting a house's roof ablaze near the Al Nakheel Intersection on Palestine Street, and an unexploded round fell near student dormitories on Palestine Street, where civil defense and bomb disposal teams intervened. Another projectile hit Al Maghreb Street causing a car to catch fire. Also, a projectile or a drone crashed on Khairallah Street in Jamila neighborhood, injuring one security personnel (coded as the police) and damaging a civilian car. These rockets were likely launched from Hor Rajab area south of Baghdad, near Al Ahmadain roundabout. Also, heavy gunfire was heard near the Green Zone and C-RAM air defense systems around the US embassy were activated, likely due to interception attempts. At least 1 person injured. There were no fatalities.
