On 7 April 2026, unidentified warplanes, likely American or Israeli (likely as part of the ongoing US-Iran conflict) conducted an airstrike targeting a joint security checkpoint of the army (2nd Division 5th Brigade) and the PMF (which had a camp nearby) in the Shaikh Amer area near Sabaa Al Bour city (Baghdad), injuring one officer and four other security personnel of the army who were near the PMF camp. In the same area, an unexploded projectile fell near Imam Al Muntadhar Hussainiyya, Civil Defense and EOD units were deployed to dismantle it. 5 injured. There were no fatalities.
