On 5 April 2026, in Guayaquil - Ximena (Guayas), two unidentified individuals detonated an explosive device outside a house and business on 15 and Capitan Najera streets. The perpetrators arrived on a motorcycle, placed the explosive outside the building, and fled. Minutes later, the device detonated, affecting at least 10 nearby homes. The magnitude of the explosion caused a temporary power outage in part of the neighborhood. Authorship and motivations are unknown. There were no casualties.
