CHICO, Calif. — Officers with the Chico Police Department arrested multiple people with felony warrants on Wednesday, April 15. While on routine patrol at 10:30 a.m., officers recognized a man from previous contacts walking near Kohl’s at the Chico Crossing Center. The man, Corey Flanagan, 41, was confirmed to have multiple felony warrants for his arrest out of the Butte County Sheriff’s Office. He was taken into custody without resistance. After searching his belongings, officers found a large can of bear mace, which he is prohibited from possessing due to previous felony convictions. Flanagan was booked into the Butte County Jail on the warrants, as well as a new felony charge of illegal possession of tear gas. At 4:30 p.m., officers observed a person sleeping on a sidewalk near Notre Dame Boulevard and Skyway. The man was identified as Vanya Hummel, 30, who had an outstanding felony warrant for a parole violation. He was arrested without resistance.
