Locals told Shwe Phi Myay that a captain and a comrade were killed in a shootout between members of the military council at a camp in Taing Ngin village on the Tetin-Kalay road in Tetin Township, Chin State.
In the incident, the officer, a captain, ordered a comrade from another battalion to be tortured, resulting in a tense situation, leading to a shooting that left both men dead.
"I heard that the shooting happened because a comrade was pressured by a captain. Both of them said that they were from different battalions and lines. At first, the two of them argued about whether the officer from the other battalion or line should be forced to do so. I heard that it ended up with shooting," a Tetem resident told Shwe Phi Myay.
The deceased were identified as Captain Aung Min Oo of the 89th Battalion of the Military Council Army based in Kalemyo, Sagaing Region, and Comrade Mae Lone of the BE Army based in Kalemyo.
The two deceased, Captain Aung Min Oo, was notorious for oppressing his fellow soldiers and for illegally arresting and questioning the residents of Kale Township, while Comrade Mae Lone was reportedly promoted by his officers because of his good fighting skills in their battalion.
"The now deceased captain was very cruel in his arbitrary arrest and interrogation of the people. I heard that he was also unjustly oppressing his comrades in the army. The women were also confused. It is known that there were two women. The comrade who shot the captain was praised by the battalion commanders and officers in their BE army for being good at fighting. The people were also very proud," said a resident of Kalay.
The bodies of the deceased were reportedly buried at around 2:00 p.m. on April 9 at the 228th Battalion compound in Kalay.
