Villages in Pakokku and Kawkareik townships were targeted in air attacks by the military, and many homes were damaged.

Yangon, April 13

According to local residents and a statement from KNU Central, the military council’s forces carried out air bombardments on villages where civilians live in Pakokku Township, Magway Region, and Kawkareik Township, Bago Region, causing damage and losses to homes.

Local people said that around 11:25 a.m. on April 11, a jet fighter that took off from Magway Air Base carried out three bomb attacks on a location in the western part of Pakokku Township.

Regarding the attack, a local resident said, "The military dogs carried out airstrikes three times. We are still investigating whether there were any civilian injuries or home damage. We want to tell the public to be careful about the dangers of ground troops and air attacks."

Similarly, the military council’s forces also attacked Thit Phaya Taung village in Kawkareik Township, Bago Region, by air, and five houses were damaged, according to a news release from KNU Central.

On April 9, the military council’s forces dropped six 120 mm bombs on Thit Phaya Taung village in Kawkareik Township using three paramotors.

As a result of the bombing, four houses belonging to U Aung Htet Oo, U Thet Oo, U Kyaw Swar, and U Htin Soe were hit and damaged.

In addition, another bombing attack by jet fighter on Kole Dae village caused one house belonging to Saw Taw Plo and one chicken shed belonging to Saw Yay Mu to be hit and damaged, it was learned.

The military is targeting villages where innocent civilians live and workplaces where they make their living, and is attacking them daily with drones, heavy weapons, and various aircraft, so local residents are living in great fear for their lives.
