Air Delivered event in Mawlamyine High School area, Myanmar on Tue 14th April 2026

Karenni State, on Thingyan Day, the military carried out an airstrike on the Mawlamyine Basic Education High School, causing many school buildings to be destroyed.

It is reported that, on Thingyan Day, the military launched an aerial bombing attack on the Mawlamyine High School in Karenni State, causing many school buildings to be heavily damaged and destroyed, according to a statement from the Karenni Education and Culture Department.

Yesterday, on April 14, which coincided with Thingyan Day, the military junta forces attacked by air the Mawlamyine Junior College (MTJC) campus in Karenni State, causing many of the campus buildings to be severely damaged and destroyed.

Because of that airstrike, the main structures on the campus – including the student dormitory and girls’ dormitory, a two‑storey office building, and a two‑storey library building – were completely destroyed.

In addition, another four‑room classroom building, the radio‑broadcast building, and the assembly‑hall building were also damaged or destroyed by the blast. The attack occurred during the Thingyan holiday period, when the school was closed and empty, so, luckily, there were no students, teachers, or staff on campus at the time and no casualties or injuries are reported.

A college official stated:

“The offices, the library, and the dormitories have nearly all been destroyed. We will have to carry out large‑scale reconstruction work. But in this incident, there were no people injured or killed.”

Even at a time when the entire Myanmar public is celebrating the New Year festival, the military is said to be violently attacking democratic forces and destroying key educational infrastructure.
